Welcome to the home page of writer and author Tom Graves. Enter at your own risk. For the brave
of heart, take your boots off and don't sit too close to the fire.
Over the years,
I've managed to write a thing or two and actually convince people to pay me for it. I am the author of Crossroads: The
Life and Afterlife of Blues Legend Robert Johnson in which I try to set the record straight once and for all on what
little is truly known about this most-revered of bluesmen. I am also the author of the definitive novel about arm wrestling
-- okay the only novel about arm wrestling -- entitled Pullers. I am told
that it can still be purchased from amazon.com. If you want to really impress your friends and neighbors, I will be glad to
inscribe (I love that word) a copy of either Crossroads or Pullers for you. Get out your wallet and click
on the appropriate page on this web site.
To bring you up to speed, in addition
to being the author of Crossroads and Pullers, I am the former editor and scribe
for Rock & Roll Disc magazine, which was published from 1987-1992. I have published in a bunch of other magazines,
some you've probably even heard of such as Rolling Stone, The New York Times Book Review, The Washington Post, American
History magazine, The Oxford American, Musician, The New Leader, and so on.
My latest endeavor is a play based
on the infamous televised debates between Gore Vidal and William F. Buckley Jr. that aired during the Republican and Democratic
conventions in 1968.
This web site is intended to display some of my wares, so to speak, and introduce those
of you out there in the luminiferous ether to both me and my work. Signed copies of my books can be purchased through
this web site and there are many other bits and pieces of things to read and check out. I also may be reached via email
